MORE PROFESSINOAL INFORMATION
I currently reside in Plano, Texas and have been employed as a Director (Rooms Division, Housekeeping Division) at the newly created NYLO Hotels flagship property.
During my two and a half year tenure at the NYLO in
Plano, I have been instrumental in bringing an organized, logical approach
to the various departments under my purview. Building our Front Office
operating procedures, hiring criteria, interview processes, and new hire
training count as few of the essential foundations for which I am directly
responsible. Similarly, the Housekeeping Department, which lacked basic
controls over inventory, staffing, purchasing procedures, and general
quality control now runs below budget and in the 90+% range across our
quality matrices. I am proud of the work I have done here to make each of
the Rooms Division Departments lean and efficient, and filled with happy
associates who add value to the NYLO Experience.
Prior to the NYLO, in 2002, I joined a former colleague
from Microsoft to create a luxury boutique hotel located in Puerto Vallarta,
Mexico. At its inception, the hotel boasted 5 suites and had annual
revenue of about $50,000. During my 7 year tenure as General Manager, we
were able to grow the business at an annual rate of about 35% and profits at
about 15% year over year. In addition, we developed the physical property - growing
from 5 to 20 rooms over the same period. As a small hotel, there was no job
that I did not do, nor any area of responsibility that I did not touch. The
exclusivity of the hotel brought an array of extremely wealthy and some celebrity
guests. Being able to provide excellent customer service, and maintain client privacy
was paramount.
Prior to moving to Mexico, I worked for the Microsoft
Corporation, first in New York City, then later at their corporate
headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
In my ten years with Microsoft I was privileged to experience a great breadth and depth of responsibilities across much of the company. I
started as a System Engineer in New York, and then moved to corporate
headquarters in Redmond in 1994. There I was the first International
Development Engineer charged with strategy and development of programs to
educate developers worldwide on Microsoft Development Tools. My last and
most challenging position was as Lead Program Manager for Microsoft Outlook,
the world’s most popular desktop application. In particular, I designed,
documented, and lead the adoption of the Outlook Object Model’s first two
versions.
